  • Created by recent Stanford grad Toni Adeyemi, and an Instagram employee, a new AR filter  ‘BLM – Donate Now’ has been added for Stories! The AR filter created to drive donations to BLM organizations became so popular that mega-influencers jumped on the trend to spread awareness against racial injustice.
  • Instagram is testing a new sticker called ‘Plans’ which will allow users to schedule an online meet-up! You’ll be able to add a date, time, and share how Stories viewers can join the online meet-up with a full guest list included.
  • People are always posting #Homemade content, but in the past month, it’s up 60% compared to May 2019! In this booming hashtag, you’ll find everything from new recipes, to interior design projects, to crafting. What are you creating at home?

  • To celebrate Pride Month, Instagram has released a collection of new tools including rainbow hashtags, rainbow story rings, pride stickers for Stories, and pride-themed AR effects for Stories!

TikTok

CONTENT & HASHTAGS:

  • With 9.3 Billion views, the #BlackLivesMatter videos show everything from live protests, to inspirational messages, to sharing how the world can help. Join the movement and spread positivity during these troubling times.
  • Share your DIY projects, gardening tips, and interior design makeovers in the #HomeDecor hashtag. Everyone loves a new project and you’ll find all kinds of inspiration here to keep you busy!
  • Over the past few months, video game numbers have surged bringing rise to the #SummerOfGaming. Users are sharing their favorite video game moments with friends, tuning in for announcements, and even playing old classics in this fun new trend.

  • TikTok shared a new case study outlining how to implement a branded hashtag campaign as a company.
  • A new study shows TikTok drove growth in kids’ social app usage by 100% in 2019, and 200% in 2020.
