Journey to Becoming an Influencer

Kara Harvey, founder of the blog Happy Go Lucky, started blogging 10 years ago. Home with a brand new baby and with her husband deployed for 9 months, she needed a creative outlet to help make the time go by faster, and turned to blogging. She had no idea that it would one day turn into her dream job.

For Kara, choosing a blog name was one of the hardest things she did when first starting out. She wanted something that described her as a person but didn’t know where to start. She started asking friends and family to describe her and “happy go lucky” was one description that everyone kept using. She also likes to keep things happy and upbeat on her blog so the name fits her site perfectly. Her goal for Happy Go Lucky is to share recipes and DIY projects that anyone can do.

Her favorite parts about being an influencer are sharing easy recipes and DIY projects, as well as being able share her experiences with brands that she loves and have been buying for her family for years. Kara’s favorite thing about her blog is that it’s accessible to anyone. “I’d like to think that when people visit Happy Go Lucky they know that they are going to find a recipe or craft project that they can do,” Kara says. “I really hope my readers know that if I can do it, they can do it too.”

How Linqia Helped

Kara first heard of Linqia from another blogger, and joined in 2013. Her favorite part about being a Linqia influencer is getting to work with brands that she’s been buying for years. She also loves the challenge of coming up with ways to feature the brands in a new recipe, craft project or printable. “As soon as I receive an email for a campaign, I get to work right away coming up with creative ways to feature the brand and create new content to share with my readers.”

Kara’s advice for influencers interested in joining Linqia is to first make sure you are being honest on your blog especially when working with brands. Then, just do it! She’s helped a few friends start blogs over the years and as soon as they are ready to monetize their blog, she has them sign up for Linqia. “It’s the best way to work with brands you already love,” she says.
