This means there will be six people living in developing countries for every person in the more developed world.

People in developing countries are hungry for knowledge, vision and opportunity. Education and information are the most significant and immediate areas for growth.

Did you also know a huge percentage of the planet’s richest people are technology entrepreneurs? That social entrepreneurs are inventing new technologies to solve the world's problems?

At Linqia, we dream of connecting the developing world to the developed world through online communities and groups.

We intend to turn this dream into a reality by partnering with these social entrepreneurs. Linqia can help them to connect people and communities to information and opportunities.

How?

We are all aware of the devastating effects that irregular weather patterns can have on the agricultural industries of the world.

To a farmer in Indonesia, this effect is more personal. His livelihood is threatened.

He is in desperate need of new knowledge to help him protect his crops. But where does he go to learn these new things? Whom should he ask? Who will understand his concerns? His fellow Indonesian farmers are also hungry for new information.

Imagine if he could be given the opportunity to connect to an online community or group focused on agriculture. Another farmer in Australia belonging to the same online community or group could share with him the new knowledge he is desperately seeking for. The Australian farmer, having gone through the same agricultural problems, knows of new ways to protect crops from drought and flooding. Within their online community or group, he shares this new knowledge with his Indonesian counterpart who, in turn, happily shares it with his fellow Indonesian farmers.

That Indonesian farmer, along with other Indonesian farmers, can now look forward to a better harvest despite erratic weather changes.

Or, how about a child in the small village of Ahuano on the Ecuadorian side of the Amazon? He dreams of being an architect. But, because of poverty, he does not have the same quality of education as a child in London does.

What if there existed an online community or group that could help him with his education? What if one member of that community wrote about this child’s plight? What if somebody responded to that plea for help?

Then, someday, the world might see another architectural wonder created by this child who thought that his dream of becoming an architect will forever remain a dream.

Often, all it takes for new knowledge to be shared and dreams to come true is an internet connection.
